A message from our President, Anne Peters, Holloway Memorial Chapel

Now that the Summer Season of 2020 is officially over, each of our Countries are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, a fall tradition.  The Canadians on Monday, October 12th and the United States on Thursday, November 26th.

Indeed these are two landmark holidays that deserve a moment of reflection and appreciation as ‘we gather together to ask the Lord’s Blessing’ for abundant harvest and being a channel of hope and light to each and everyone of us during these unprecedented times.  We have so much to be Thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Dear Friends of the Holloway Memorial Chapel:

Another summer has come and gone.  Unfortunately, due to the Covid19 we were unable to celebrate together at our Holloway Memorial Chapel for our season of Sunday Worship Services.

However, thanks to the efforts of our Director of Worship and Pulpit, we were able to enjoy our scheduled Sunday Worship Service Sermons online virtually, via YouTube.  Many of our favorite speakers reminded us of patience, friendship and love.  I would like to thank them personally for taking the time to do this for us during this pandemic.

I would also like to thank you, our Friends of the Chapel and, our Board of Trustees for their contributions in support of our Chapel as we navigate this challenging time.  Any and all donations are gratefully received and are vital for the on-going maintenance of the Chapel.

Even though the Chapel remains closed, we continue to make capital improvements and repairs to the building.  Presently, we are repairing the base of the decaying north-east wall.  The Chapel will be ready for us when we return to worship for the 2021 season.

I personally wish to thank some Trustees who have been so important to the Chapel this year:

  • Worship and Pulpit Director for arranging the weekly on-line sermons with our Speakers and for                   hosting our Zoom Board Meetings;
  • Communications Director for dedicated maintenance of our Chapel website and weekly e-mail distributions;
  • Weddings, Baptisms and Memorials Director for maintaining the window boxes and planters;
  • Treasurer for financial guidance;
  • Vice President for coordination of general maintenance and care of the Chapel.

In closing I just want to say how sorry I am that we were unable to gather on our ‘new terrace’ this season.  I look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Please be safe and secure wherever you spend the winter and may God keep all of us and our families well through the coming months.

Warm regards,

Anne Peters,
President, Holloway Memorial Chapel

PS:  It is not too late if you would like to help sustain the Chapel through this difficult time.  We would be grateful for any donations towards its operation and maintenance.  Please see our website www.hollowaymemorialchapel.org for details.
